Class 3 - Gill Berry
Class 3
Spring Term 2012
Class 3 explored "Doorways" for their theme in the first half term. We found doors and doorways everywhere, leading to some interesting, different and new or familiar places. Doors lead into rooms, cupboards, fridges, sheds and gardens for example.

We enjoyed opening and closing doors, going through them and we especially enjoyed the revolving doorway into Morrisons! One big black doorway led into a Secret Garden and we were able to explore what was in the secret garden. We had a story called the Secret Garden and enjoyed following Mary as she found the key to the secret garden and found new friends as they worked and played there.

In the Secret Garden
This half term our theme is Growing - plants.
We are busy planting and caring for our seeds and plants. We have planted beans, peas, courgettes,, sunflowers, nasturtiums and sweet peas. We have to water them and keep them warm. The shoots are just starting to grow.
We have visited the garden centre to see all the plants and seeds ther. We found lots of crocus at Backhouse Park. It was a purple, white and green carpet. At the woods we found yellow gorse flowers and new buds and leaves beginning to grow. We hope our sunflowers will grow very tall. Whose will be the tallest we wonder!!

WE WILL ROCK YOU!!!
Class 3 are rock stars in the making! We love exploring the instruments, sound board and switches to compose our own music as we work with Marek. Once we are on the stage in our hats and glasses with the mike in our hand we rock the school!

We've been learning how to cross the road safely with WALKWISE.
STOP! LOOK! LISTEN! Before you cross the street.
Stop at the kerb. Look both ways and listen for cars. If nothing is coming then cross in a straight line to the other side, looking all the time.
PIER TO PIER WALK with the Prince's Trust. Students from the Prince's Trust came to read us stories in Book Week. They told us us some great stories. They then pffered to raise some money to help us get our new Hydo pool by doinga sponsoredPier to Pier Walk. We went along to do part of the walk from South Shields with them. It was a very windy day and we were very tired, but we we had great fun. 1.3.11
Hello!! We are Class 3 and we love to explore, investigate and get involved in all our activities.
This half term we have been finding out all about water.
One thing we do know is it's VERY WET!! BUT ....it's also great fun!
When it rains we get very wet, although our new waterproofs keep us dry and we can splash about as much as we like. We found lots of wet and muddy puddles!
We like to splash about in Hydro and we splash, float and swim at Sandhill pool.
We used water to make things, some to eat, making jelly, soup, rice and also in painting and making saltdough.
Along with Class 4 we like to involve ourselves in a bit of enterprise. We wanted to help raise some money towards our new Hydro pool. We decided to offer a car wash service to staff and parents. So after practising on our school mini-bus with a very soapy brush and jet wash, (Les was very pleased with such a shiny bus) we filled our buckets, grabbed our sponges and washed lots of cars.
